We have fallen into the place where everything is music. Rumi
What do I want to be? What do I want to feel? I was muddling around in worry on an issue, and these two questions helped me break through the confusion.
They spoke to my heart. Instead of focusing on what could happen, I need to feel what I want, what I want to create, how I want to feel in life. I had a good cry and then the pieces fell into place. I need to focus on what I want to create.
And I need to focus on how I want to feel. Especially in relation to where I am stuck.
I want to feel love. Not fear and worry.
The next morning I experience the heart circulating love through my body, through the pathways of the arteries, veins, and capillaries. The meridians are also involved, my circuitry is being flooded by the universal current. At some point I think: the body of love, and it separates from my body and I can feel and see it as a body of light swimming nearby me. It feels like swimming through the space around me. I feel it could travel through space, but decide to unite back into my physical body. I wonder about water, the fluids in my body carrying love, and a sense of connection occurs with the rivers, lakes and oceans of the earth.
The universal current flooding my body is the real me, the current my body swims in. I am connected to the universe as part of this current, one that flows through all of nature and all beings. We each have our individual source connection to that current.
We have fallen into the place where everything is music. What I think Rumi meant by the place is when there is a feeling of harmony, the realization that we are exactly where we need to be, moving as a part of the current. There is a quiet love for ourselves and the world, even in the messiest of situations. Nothing to do with perfection, but in harmony with the unpredictable wildness of nature, trusting the flow of it all.
What does my heart want?
It wants love to permeate each one of us, and harmony to prevail on the earth. I want each human to be aware of their infinite power and creativity. I start with myself, opening to how I can grow in love each day. I am pretty sure this is how the world will grow, as each one of us aligns with the frequency of love. Not the version of love we may have been sold by our culture, but a caring that starts with our own heart, absorbing love throughout our bodies — and then radiates out to the world.
Full of love, moved by the universal current, aligning with nature and responding to our deepest knowing, radiating with the immense power that is inherently ours - I want this for myself and all of us. We each carry a vision of what we want for our own lives and the earth. We can align with the new earth and create the world we most need and deserve. We have been operating at far less than our capacities. As the earth changes more of our abilities will come online.
I have been experimenting with my body, nature, and embodying love since the mid-eighties. Through my experiential research, I am in awe of the bio-intelligence permeating matter which knows how to optimally grow us. If you are religious, it might be akin to God. Our lives work best when we are aligned and listening, knowing that we are not in charge, but in a relationship with the mysterious deeper wisdom that emanates from our source connection.
Aligned with that wisdom, we might think of it as music, we are part of the universal current that moves the world. Along the way I became an improvisational dancer and for me the analogy of music and the dance makes sense. I am dancing in the moment, improvising to the music that is everywhere, following my inner rhythm and the melody of my heart.
One way to check in with yourself is to notice your breath. What is it doing right now, even as you are reading? Can you feel it reaching down to to the pelvic floor? A full breath will reach to your pelvic floor and up to your shoulders.
We restrict our capacity for aliveness when we breathe in a shallow way. I catch myself breathing minimally many times when I check in; just notice and take your attention to where you are not breathing, and the breath will follow.
Here’s a meditation:
Imagine a circle of light around and under you in all directions.
Then standing with arms out and your legs slightly spread.
Feel your heart.
Feel the breath moving though your arms to your fingertips.
Feel the breath to the top of your head.
And the breath through your belly down to your legs.
Feel the breath moving the blood from your heart in all directions.
And feel your connection to a place deep in the earth.
From my heart to yours.

Thank you. I know I say it all the time, but reading your words is such a gift. I am immediately in a different frame of mind (connected to heart and body) that reminds me of the joy in living. I agree with Yolanda - you are an inspiration in many ways…
